Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 5/31/25 – Against a backdrop of this country where the President doesn’t believe in global warming or environmental issues, emerges an important new film. A stark reminder of the fragility of the planet we call home. Be it set in urban America or rural Brazil, it all matters. The earth.
“We Are Guardians” follows indigenous Amazon forest protectors, who literally risk their lives to ward off invaders and illegal tree loggers. “For us they killed a life, that’s sad,” reflects one citizen.
The compelling and acclaimed documentary shot in close, character-driven vérité style, explores the complex intersections of politics, history, economics, and science. “We Are Guardians” shines a probing light on the global implications of deforestation in arguably the world’s most vital and gorgeous ecosystem.
Powerful, the film is a story of hope and resilience. With an unfolding environmental crisis, the Tembé and Guajajara people persevere, struggling to preserve their ancestral land.
Leonardo Di Caprio, a supporter of environmental causes, is credited as one of the co- Executive Producers of “We Are Guardians.” Academy Award winning Fisher Stevens (“The Cove”) is Producer and the film’s award-winning directors are Edivan Guajajara, Chelsea Greene and Rob Grobman.
Sting is another major supporter of Amazon Rainforest preservation. And these folks are not alone in their pursuit of protection and justice. And to ensure responsibly managed forests.
Afterall, we are all guardians of the earth, are we not?
